What Are the Victories We have In Christ Jesus?
Romans 8:37--
The truth is that, a lot of believers are only enjoying one or two
of all the victories that God the Father had given to us as His children
through His Son Jesus Christ.
Do you know that your
salvation (you’re being a Christian) is one of the victories that the Father
had given to you through Christ Jesus? Yet many take common their salvation and
Christianity.
Your salvation- which is your being a child of God was the first
and foremost victory that Humanity has in Divinity through the Person of Christ
Jesus. This is the Father of all other victories in Christ Jesus. It is called
the FOUNDATIONAL VICTORY in Christ Jesus. This is because, it is only
those who embrace this victory that can have access to Divinity, and it is only
when a man has access to Divinity that that he/she can enjoy every other victory
in Christ Jesus.
You can’t start with the victory over sickness or poverty, when
you have not yet first embraced the victory over sin/condemnation which amounts
to your salvation in Christ Jesus. Is it this victory over sin that will lead
you or bring about the victory over sickness or poverty and the others. This is
why the victory over sin/condemnation is the foundational or chief victory in
Christ. It is the mother of every other victory in Christ Jesus.
The first and foremost reason why God the Father sent God the Son
to die for Humanity is to first of all reconcile man back to his original
State/Identity in Him (state of righteousness with God), not to get rich or be
healed, because in this original state and \identity man already have access to
enjoy riches, divine healthy, and dominion over all the powers of darkness etc.
Thus, is why the victory of salvation over sin and death (eternal life) is the
first and foremost and ultimate victories as I have said before. You can see
that there is a sequence or order of accessing these victories in Christ.
Sadly, many Christians
stop at the victory over sin. They never proceed to other victories such as
victory overs sickness, poverty, afflictions etc. This is the reason we have so
many saved in Christ but still dying in sickness, afflictions, poverty and all
manner of evils that Christ has already give victory over. This is largely due
to ignorance as some denominations believes and teaches that only righteousness
(being saved) is enough for a believer and every other thing is not necessary.
Some even equate poverty with righteousness. But thank God for the past decade,
the eyes of many have been opened to this truth.
Now, what are these all-round victories we have in Christ Jesus?
Before answering this question, it is important to note that these victories
are innumerable. However, this message focuses on the major victories in Christ
Jesus—victories from which many other sub-victories flow.
Victory Over Sin: The Foundational Triumph
Isaiah 53:5a___but he was pierced for our transgression, he was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was upon him.
It is no longer news that our victory over sin and eternal
condemnation stands as the first and foundational triumph we have in Christ
Jesus.
Victory Over Sickness/Disease
Isaiah 53:5b___and by his wound we are healed.
Divine healing and health are one of the victories Jesus gave to
us. No believer should be sick this year 2026 and beyond because Christ has
paid the price for it and set us free.
Victory Over Temptation
Luke 22:42-43___Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me, yet not my will, but yours be done. (43). An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.
Jesus has given us the power to overcome any kind of temptation
that comes our way, no matter how difficult it is. Calling on His name
(authority), and His blood (life) and His word (Spirit), gives us
the strength to overcome any temptation.
Victory Over Torments/Afflictions
Psalms 34:19__ many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers them out of them all.
This is not a to-do Scripture but an already-done
Scripture. Jesus is not going to give you victory again; He already secured it
on the cross.
“The Lord delivers them out of them all” and “The Lord will
deliver them out of them all” are two statements with different meanings.
The former is an assurance of what has already been accomplished and is
presently obtainable, while the latter is a promise that is yet to be
fulfilled.
Therefore, the former statement is the more powerful, and that is
the kind of victory Christ has given us over torments and afflictions.
Victory Over Poverty/Lack
Galatians 3:13__Christ redeemed us from the curse if the law by becoming a curse for us (poverty included).
2 Corinthians 8:9__for you know the grace of our Lord Jesus
Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you
through his poverty might become rich.
Deuteronomy 28:12___The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse
of his good gifts for your land in its season and will bless all the work of
your hands.
These Scriptures are self-explanatory. Through His death, Christ
has broken the root cause of financial poverty over humanity. However, this
freedom is only accessible to those who accept Him as Lord and Savior and walk
in obedience to divine financial principles.
Yes, it is true that the curse has been broken, and as believers
in Christ, we have access to enjoy this liberty. Nevertheless, not all who are
saved in Christ experience this freedom in practice. The reason is that many do
not align themselves with the Kingdom’s financial principles.
Victory Over Satanic Dominion/Oppression
Luke 10:19__I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; noting will harm you.
This scripture reveals that Satanic dominion and oppression are
not superior to the believer’s position in Christ. Jesus did not promise
authority; He declared it already given. The imagery of snakes and scorpions
represents the full range of demonic power and oppression, both subtle and
aggressive.
By stating, “I have given you authority,” Jesus establishes the
believer’s legal and spiritual right to rule over the enemy’s power. This
authority is comprehensive—over all the power of the enemy— (the marine,
occultic, terrestrial, heavenlies etc.) and conclusive, as nothing shall by any
means harm the one who stands in Christ.
Therefore, Satanic oppression persists not because authority is
lacking, but because authority is often unexercised. In Christ, believers do
not fight for victory; they enforce the victory already won.
Victory Over Death and Grave
1 Corinthians 15:55-57__ “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
These verses declare a completed victory over death, sin, and the
law. Death no longer has the final word because Christ has removed its sting by
dealing with sin at the cross. The victory is not promised for the future
alone—it is already given through Jesus Christ. Believers therefore live,
serve, and overcome from a position of triumph, not fear.
Victory Over Satan and Demonic Forces
Colossians 2:15__ and having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
At the cross:
- Satan
and demonic powers were disarmed (stripped of the legal authority he stole
from man-Adam, through rebellion against God).
- Their
power over sin, death, and condemnation was broken.
👉This means Satan is a defeated enemy,
not an equal enemy.
Matthew 18:18 (KJV)__ “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye
shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on
earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Spiritual authority, Judicial/kingdom decisions, and Enforcing
heaven’s verdict on earth is what this scripture is talking about.
Because Colossians 2:15 declares that Satan was disarmed:
- Believers
are not granting new authority
- They
are permitting what heaven already allows and forbidding what Christ
already defeated
We permit freedom because Christ crushed bondage.
We forbid oppression because Satan lost his legal right at the cross.
Matthew 18:18 does not mean believers create authority individually.
Rather:
- Jesus
shares His already-won authority with His Church, and the church is you
and I, who have accepted Him as our Lord and Savior.
- Binding
and loosing are the enforcement on earth of what Christ secured at
the cross.
👉 We enforce Christ’s victory; we don’t
fight to earn it.
Binding & Loosing = Exercising Christ’s Authority
Because Christ triumphed:
- Binding → forbid,
restrict, and declare unlawful the influence of demonic powers, lies,
and oppression.
- Loosing → permit, allow, release, declare lawful. Releasing
freedom, forgiveness, healing, and God’s purposes.
This authority works only because: Satan has already been disarmed
(Col. 2:15). The cross looked like defeat, but it was actually: God’s public
victory parade over Satan
Victory Over The World
John 16:33__ “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
The world here refers to: the worldly systems, Sin
that enslaves humanity (because sin is of the world), Satan’s authority
over mankind,
while the troubles refer to: the pressures of life, fear,
insecurity, economic hardship, corruption, racism, etc.
This is one of the comforting scriptures to believers about Christ
victory over the system of the world. This is the reason why the world can’t
stop the Church of Christ here on earth. No matter the agenda the kingdom of
darkness is pushing through the world systems to stop the church of Christ and
His gospel from spreading, he can never succeed. Any nation, president,
government, institution etc. fighting the church of Christ and His gospel is
just fighting a lost battle because victory had been given 2000 years ago by
Christ Jesus on the cross of Calvary.
See the phrase: “…Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
This is not a motivational talk—it is victory language.
Jesus spoke this before the cross, yet He said “I have
overcome”—past tense—because His victory was certain and complete.
This is the reason and victory while you see many believers are joyful in the
midst of sorrows of the world, they are prospering financially despite the
hunger and economic downturn increasing in the world, they are unharmed,
despite the increase and intense insecurity in the world, they are living
healthy in the midst of disease outbreaks and contagious diseases all over the
world. It is the reason why the children of God are pursuing after
righteousness despite the pleasures of sin that dominates the world.
Jesus said again: “In Me you may have peace”
- Peace
is not the absence of trouble; it is the assurance that Christ has
already won. Believers face troubles, but never as victims—but only
as victors. This is the reason they are not moved in the midst of
adversities, because they have the assurance that they are coming out as
victorious already. Knowing this alone, is enough to make a man have joy
in the face of adversities. When you know that the evil before you will
definitely give way for you, gives you the strength to hold on to God when
passing through such adversity.
- Trouble
is real, but it is temporary, Victory is already settled.
John 16:33 proclaims Christ’s victory in advance, Believers now live from that victory, not toward it
Weapons for
enforcing our victories in Christ Jesus
There are three basic instruments for enforcing our victories in
Christ Jesus. They are: the Name of Jesus, The blood of Jesus and The Word of
God.
Calling on the name of Jesus is
calling on His authority: Philippians 2:10-11__that at the name of Jesus every knee should
bow, of those in heaven, and those on earth, and of those under the earth. (11)
and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory of
God the Father.
Because
Christ overcame, we overcome in Him also (Romans 8:37); this is the reason why
we call on the name of Jesus. Whenever we call on the name, we are invoking a
specific victory in the name, and it is the victories that we have been taught
above.
When we
say “sickness, or death or poverty: “I bind you in the name of Jesus”, we are simply calling on the victory in His
name over sickness, death and poverty, and these things have no choice but to
bow according to Philippians 2:10-11 which is our anchor scripture here.
We resist
the devil from a place of victory, not fear. A Christian who rebukes sickness
with boldness and assurance in the victory Jesus has given over sickness is the
one that sickness will bow to, not the one doing that from a fearful/doubtful
heart. This is why; His victory became our victory through faith in Him. Faith
is the key to enjoying these innumerable victories.
Pleading His blood is invoking His
life: Leviticus
17:11a__for the life of the flesh is in the blood
John
6:53__” Truly.
Truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink His
blood, you have no life in you.”
while speaking His word is enchanting His Spirit; whenever
a spirit is enchanted, it usually appears to the enchanter and go on errands
for him. Hebrew 4:12(ESV)__For the Word of God is living and
active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and
spirit.
Enchantment in this context, refers to the positive, alluring, and
life-giving power of God’s Word working through the Holy Spirit. The Holy
Spirit uses scriptures to draw people into a deeper relationship with God,
making His presence real and active in their lives. Quoting scripture is
associated with the power and demonstration of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit uses
the Word to build faith, teach and guide believers.
We shall be treating each of these instruments one by one in
details.
