“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbour as yourself. I am the Lord.”

— Leviticus 19:18

Love is the most powerful force in the universe. It is the very nature of God (1 John 4:8). Yet, it is also the most neglected and misunderstood virtue in our world today—even within the church.

In a world full of religion, noise, and rituals, one thing remains noticeably scarce: true love. The absence of love is the root cause of much of the chaos, hatred, division, and wickedness we see today.

This message is a call to return to God’s original command—the command to love one another.

1. Love: The Fulfilment of All the Law

“For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’”
— Galatians 5:14

Jesus didn’t give us 1,000 commandments—He summed up the entire law into one: love your neighbour as yourself.

Paul echoed this in Romans 13:8–10:

“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another… Love does no harm to a neighbour. Therefore love is the fulfilment of the law.”

You don't need to memorize every commandment if love guides your heart. If you truly love:

  • You won’t steal.

  • You won’t lie.

  • You won’t kill.

  • You won’t gossip or envy.

  • You won’t bear grudges.

Love is the summary of all God’s laws.

2. The Scarcity of Love Today

Love is not just missing in the world; it’s often missing in the church.

“Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold.”
— Matthew 24:12

We see people praying loudly, fasting regularly, and giving offerings—yet still filled with hatred, envy, and bitterness. This is not true worship. Love for God cannot exist without love for people.

Examples of lovelessness today:

  • You want to destroy your pastor because you want his position.

  • You disturb your neighbors with loud prayers or music, showing no consideration.

  • You refuse to help the needy even when you have the means.

  • You speak evil of others, fight those who never wronged you, and sabotage their peace.

All of these are signs of a heart void of love.

“Do to others what you would have them do to you.”
— Matthew 7:12

Most people do the exact opposite. What they don’t want done to them is exactly what they do to others. This is the absence of love—and the presence of wickedness

3. Religion Without Love Is Worthless

“If I speak in tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.”
— 1 Corinthians 13:1

Church attendance, tithe, offerings, spiritual gifts—all of these mean nothing without love. God is not impressed with noise, activity, or positions. He’s looking at our hearts.

You cannot claim to love God whom you have not seen, while hating people who are made in His image. That is self-deception.

“Stop deceiving yourself that you love God when you are doing to others what God hates.”

This echoes 1 John 4:20:

“If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ yet hates his brother or sister, he is a liar.”

4. Misrepresenting God Through Violence

This question needs to be asked:

“Did God ever command us to kill in order to spread our faith?”

The answer is NO.

“You shall not kill.”Exodus 20:13

Any religion, group, or person that believes killing, violence, or force is necessary to make others believe in their doctrine is not representing God. God doesn’t contradict Himself.

“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you...”
— Matthew 5:44

God is love. If love is not at the centre of your faith, you are not serving God, no matter what name you use.

5. God’s Love for Us Is Unchanging

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8

Before you were born, before you sinned, God already loved you. Jesus didn’t wait for you to be holy. He died while we were still helpless and wicked.

That’s how much God loves us—more than we love ourselves.

6. Why Does Evil Still Happen If God Loves Us?

This is a common question. The answer lies in two things:

1️⃣ Lack of Revelation of God’s Love

You can’t have faith in a God you don’t believe loves you deeply. If you think God is angry, distant, or indifferent, your faith will be weak.

2️⃣ Unbelief in His Love

Many blessings are blocked not by God, but by our own unbelief.

“If you can believe, all things are possible...” — Mark 9:23

You must believe that God is good and that He delights in blessing you (Psalm 35:27).

7. Faith Cannot Work Without Love

“Faith works by love.”
— Galatians 5:6

You can’t have effective faith if your heart is filled with hate. Love is the fuel of faith. When love is present, faith produces miracles. When love is absent, faith becomes empty words.

8. A Final Word to the Broken-hearted

Maybe you’re reading this and feeling unloved, rejected, or tempted to give up.
Maybe you’ve even thought about ending your life.

Please hear this truth:

God loves you more than you love yourself.
He sees your pain. He understands your heartache. And He is not against you.

You may have been abandoned by people, but you are never abandoned by God.

“Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.”
— Psalm 27:10

🔑 In Summary

  • Love = God’s nature. Without love, our religion is empty.

  • Love = Obedience. Loving your neighbor fulfills the Law.

  • Love = Action. Feeding the hungry, forgiving, and being considerate is love in action.

  • Love = Power. The church loses spiritual power where love is absent.

  • God’s Love = Foundation. Until we know how much He loves us, we cannot truly love others or walk in faith.

Conclusion: Let Love Lead Again

The world is crying out not for more preachers, more churches, or more religion. The world is desperate for love—genuine, sacrificial, Christ-like love.

  • If we truly love, we’ll stop hurting others.

  • If we truly love, we’ll forgive.

  • If we truly love, we’ll help the poor.

  • If we truly love, we’ll speak the truth without malice.

  • If we truly love, the church will regain her power and influence.

Let love return to our hearts, homes, churches, and streets.

“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”
— 1 Corinthians 13:13

Prayer

Father, help me to love the way You love.
Remove hatred, envy, selfishness, and pride from my heart.
Fill me with compassion, mercy, and kindness.
Let me walk in love and reflect Your character every day.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

✝️ Final Encouragement

Even when your strength runs out, God’s love will carry you. His love has no end. Trust in it, rest in it, and share it with others.

Let this message be your mirror, your challenge, and your healing.
