The Voice of the True Shepherd
The True Shepherd knows His sheep, and His sheep know His voice. Yet today, it has become common for ‘every Tom, Dick, and Harry’ to ridicule preachers of the gospel—throwing insults and labels at God’s messengers. These are people who don’t belong to the fold of Jesus Christ and therefore have no understanding of what God is doing.
Yes, wolves in sheep’s clothing have crept into the priesthood, but that does not give anyone the license to despise God or dishonor those He has truly called. To reject His voice and His servants is to reject Him.
God is teaching us a critical lesson today about why the world cannot believe in miracles or kingdom principles. The simple reason is this: they do not belong to the fold of Christ.
John 10:25–27 (NIV)
25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me,
26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep.
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
2. The World Cannot Understand the Things of God
The world does not believe in God’s Word, His miracles, or His principles because they do not believe in Him. Even among believers, not everyone embraces the entirety of God’s Word or His kingdom principles—how much more the unbelieving world! But the true sheep of Christ recognize His voice, believe His Word, and walk in His ways.
This is why believers must stop being surprised when social media mocks men of God, questions miracles, or argues against divine principles such as giving, offering, and tithing. How can they understand when they are not of God?
1 Corinthians 2:14 (NIV)
“The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.”
Beloved, let this truth settle your heart. Don’t lose your peace when the world ridicules God’s ways. Instead, keep your focus on Christ and continue to live out His Word. For the sheep know their Shepherd’s voice, and no stranger can deceive them.
The world does not believe in God’s Word, His miracles, or His principles because they don’t believe in Him. Even among the saved (Christians), not everyone believes in every word, principle, or miracle of God—how much more the world. But the true sheep of Jesus Christ listen, believe, and follow His words, principles, and miracles. This is exactly what the scripture has told us.
Remember when Jesus asked His disciples in Matthew 16:13–17, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” Many gave human answers—John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets. But it was Peter who, by revelation of the Spirit, declared, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus affirmed that this truth was not revealed by flesh and blood but by the Father in heaven. In the same way, only those with the Spirit can truly recognize and accept the things of God.
That is why believers should stop wondering why social media, individuals, or even whole communities ridicule men of God, miracles, or God’s principles—especially controversial ones like tithing and offering. How can they understand when they are not of God?
3. Why Miracles and Kingdom Principles Are Mocked
1 Corinthians 3:19 (NIV) says: “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: ‘He catches the wise in their craftiness.’”
Beloved, let this truth guard your heart. Don’t be troubled when the world mocks you as a minister of God for the miracles God performs through you or for the principles of His Word that you uphold. Keep your eyes on Jesus Christ and remain faithful to His Word. For the sheep know their Shepherd’s voice, and no stranger can lead them astray.
Yes, “the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight” (1 Corinthians 3:19). Men may boast in their arguments, but God has already counted their wisdom as nothing.
4. Three Dimensions of a Changed Story (John 9)
1. Jesus Changes Situations – John 9:8–11 (NIV)
When Jesus steps into a person’s life, everything changes! The neighbors who had always seen the blind beggar sitting by the roadside were shocked when they saw him walking with clear eyes. “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” they asked. Some argued it was him, others denied it, but he declared boldly, “I am the man!”
This is what happens when Christ intervenes—your story becomes unrecognizable. The transformation is so real, so sudden, and so visible that people cannot reconcile your past with your present. Jesus specializes in turning beggars into testimonies, shame into glory, and impossibilities into living evidence of His power.
2. Change of Story That Stirs Controversy – John 9:16–21
Some changes of story are so dramatic and undeniable that they stir up arguments and controversy. The Pharisees could not agree: “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” Others countered, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” The healed man’s parents were even summoned to testify whether he was truly their son.
This shows us that when God lifts you, not everyone will celebrate. Some will question your breakthrough, analyze your miracle, or even try to discredit the source. But child of God, your testimony does not require man’s approval. Your life will remain the evidence, whether they accept it or not.
3. Change of Story That People Find Hard to Believe – John 9:24–34
The Pharisees summoned the man again, pressuring him to deny Jesus. But his testimony stood firm: “One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!” Even when they insulted him and cast him out, he boldly declared, “If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”
Some changes are so profound that people would rather call you a liar than accept God’s hand in your life. They will say you are “steeped in sin,” mock your faith, and reject your testimony. But the truth is unshakable: when Jesus changes your story, no argument, no insult, no rejection can erase what He has done.
They are called miracles that eyes have not seen, nor ears heard. They are called spectacular miracles or miracles of all miracles.
5. Lessons for Believers / Conclusion
The world cannot understand the ways of God—that is why there are constant attacks on the Church, on God’s Word, and on the men and women He has called. They challenge the validity of miracles, ridicule the move of the Spirit, and mock the principles of the Kingdom. This is also why giving—tithes, offerings, and sacrificial seeds—has become one of the most controversial topics. To the natural mind, these things appear foolish, but to the spiritual, they are God’s ordained ways of blessing His people.
Remember, “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit” (1 Corinthians 2:14). And again, “The wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight” (1 Corinthians 3:19).
Beloved, do not be shaken by the noise of the world. Their unbelief does not cancel the reality of God’s power. Their mockery cannot silence the truth of His Word. Your testimony will always speak louder than their arguments. Just like the man born blind declared, “One thing I know, I was blind but now I see” (John 9:25), so also will your life be an undeniable witness of God’s hand.
Stand firm in the Word, stay faithful in your walk, and keep your focus on Jesus. For in the end, “the sheep know the Shepherd’s voice, and a stranger they will not follow.”
6. Prayer
“Father, open my eyes to see Your ways, and give me boldness to stand firm in Your Word. May my life be a living testimony of Your power, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
