Jesus as the Gate

We live in a world full of gates. ” Religion says it has one. Culture creates its own. Success promises another. Others believe good works alone will open heaven’s gates. Still, others argue that all paths eventually lead to God.  But Jesus declares without apology: I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6).”

He is the gate to everything we need”

  • He is the gate to salvation.

  • He is the gate to peace.

  • He is the gate to healing.

  • He is the gate to eternal life.

This is not an opinion. It is not a suggestion. It is an eternal decree. Jesus is not one of many ways—He is the only way. Anything else is a counterfeit road that leads to destruction. The question is: Whose way are you following today—man’s invention or God’s only provision?

Now, even the Son confirms again that He is the only way to the Father.

John 10:7–10 (NIV):

7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.

8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them.

9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

In biblical times, every city had a gate. The gate was the legitimate point of entry; no one could enter into a city without passing through it. In the same way, Jesus declares that He is the gate. This means there is no access to salvation, eternal life, or the Father except through Him. Believers are the sheep, and Christ is the Shepherd who guards, guides, and gives them access.

Any attempt to enter God’s kingdom apart from Christ is illegitimate. Jesus says plainly that all other gates are thieves and robbers. For a Christian to walk outside of Christ is to walk in error. No prophet, religion, philosophy, or spiritual system outside of Jesus can lead to salvation.

But Jesus is not just the gate to heaven—He is the gate to everything we need in life (life in it's fullness). Verse 9 reveals that whoever enters through Him is not only saved but also gains access to “pasture.” Pasture represents abundance, provision, and satisfaction: salvation, prosperity, healing, peace, wisdom, success, and joy. While the devil (the thief) seeks only to steal, kill, and destroy, Jesus provides life in its fullest measure—life overflowing with grace and divine provision.

In Christ, we don’t just survive—we thrive. Everything humanity desperately seeks is found in Him alone.

False Gates

“Even today, there are many ‘gates’ that pretend to be the gate of Jesus, but their true aim is to mislead God’s elect and drag sinners into destruction. One way to know if it is truly Jesus is this: their actions and teachings will always align with the Word of God. To discern the devil’s deception, look closely — he mixes evil with good. Sometimes the good seems to outweigh the evil, but it is only a disguise to confuse believers and sinners who are not rooted in God’s Word.

But hear this truth: ‘As for God, His way is perfect; the Lord’s word is flawless; He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him’ (Psalm 18:30). God’s Word has no flaws, no mixture, no compromise.

The Call to find your God-ordained church

And Jesus Himself said, ‘I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd’ (John 10:16). The true gate will always lead into unity under Christ, the only Shepherd. Every other gate leads to division, deception, and destruction.

This is the reason why salvation alone is not enough. After giving your life to Christ, the next important step is to locate a God-only church—a place where the undiluted Word of God is preached and lived out. But even beyond that, you must prayerfully ask God: “Lord, which among these churches have You ordained for me to grow, serve, and fulfill my calling?”

The truth is this: not every church is your God-ordained ministry. Your assignment may not be tied to the first congregation you walk into. That is why spiritual sensitivity is needed.

Jesus made this clear in John 10:16 when He said, “I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.” This means that Jesus has different pens—different congregations, denominations, or assemblies—yet all are under one Shepherd, Christ Himself.

So, while there may be different denominations, we must not mistake diversity for division. True believers in every God-ordained church are united under one Lord, one faith, and one baptism (Ephesians 4:5). What makes the difference is whether that church is truly centered on Christ, grounded in the Word, and aligned with God’s purpose for your life.

Every ministry has its God-ordained sheep—followers who believe and are nourished by that ministry’s message. This explains why not every believer resonates with Bishop Oyedepo’s or Pastor Chris’s ministry, yet they are all God’s children. Each ministry is uniquely designed to meet different needs in the lives of men, all working together for the perfection and edification of the body of Christ on earth (Ephesians 4:11–13).

The ministry that consistently feeds your spirit and sometimes even ministers to your physical needs is your God-ordained ministry. Likewise, as a preacher, the men and women whose needs are being met through your calling are your God-ordained sheep.

Jesus Himself explained this reality in John 10:26 (NIV): “But you do not believe because you are not my sheep.”

This means that rejection of a preacher or ministry doesn’t always mean the preacher is false—it may simply mean that the person is not ordained to be among that fold.

Therefore, don’t just stop at being saved—find your God-appointed spiritual home. It is there that your gifts will be nurtured, your faith will be strengthened, and your destiny will align with heaven’s agenda.

Joy of heaven over salvation

Jesus is calling you today. He is calling you to turn away from the broad gate that leads to destruction and enter through the narrow gate that leads to eternal life (Matthew 7:13–14). In Him, you will find both abundant physical life and everlasting spiritual life.

The truth is this: there is nothing Satan promises you that God cannot give you in a far greater, richer, and everlasting way. The difference is that God’s blessings add no sorrow (Proverbs 10:22), while Satan’s so-called gifts always come wrapped in pain, emptiness, and eventual destruction.

When you walk in the devil’s path, you make yourself an enemy of God—and God does not bless His enemies; He warns, judges, and punishes them. Satan has only one mission: “to steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10). He offers temporary thrills, sinful pleasures, and deceptive shortcuts, but hidden inside them are sorrow, chains, and death—both on earth and in eternity.

But Jesus, the Good Shepherd, offers you something far greater: “I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10b). In Him, you receive joy without sorrow, peace without fear, and victory over all the powers of darkness. You will tread upon lions and scorpions, and none will harm you (Luke 10:19).

Unlike Satan, who feeds you like a cow being fattened only to be slaughtered on the day of festivity, Jesus nourishes you to give you everlasting life. The devil pretends to love, but in the end, he devours. Jesus truly loves, and His love never fails.

The choice is yours today: Will you keep walking toward the gate of destruction, or will you answer the call of Jesus—the only gate to eternal life?

Come out today and be saved.

“I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” — Luke 15:7 (NIV)

Words of Rhema:

The reason heaven celebrates the salvation of one sinner more than ninety-nine already saved saints is this: whenever a sinner repents, the very purpose of Christ’s death is fulfilled in that life. No one remains unmoved when their agenda is accomplished—how much more God, whose greatest agenda is the redemption of mankind. Luke 15:7

Each repentant sinner is another lost sheep returning home to the fold of Christ. This is why heaven erupts in joy—because every salvation is a step closer to one united flock under one Shepherd.

Psalm 18:30 (NIV) “As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.”

Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). Only through Him we can enter God's kingdom, have a relationship with God. And this access through Jesus to the Father can only be obtained by receiving Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. Anything called the truth that is not from Jesus Christ, is nothing but a lie. Any life outside of Christ is the life leading to destruction. It is only in Christ that we can find life and find it abundantly.

Portrait of Jesus

The Way, the Truth, and the Life → He is the only path.

The Flawless Word → His promises never fail.

The Shield → He protects those who trust in Him.

The Good Shepherd → He gives His life for the sheep.

This makes a complete spiritual portrait of Jesus—Guide, Protector, and Savior.

This is why He wants you to be saved now so you can enjoy all these.

Call to respond

Friend, the Shepherd is calling you today. The Gate is open, but it will not always remain so. Don’t wait until it is too late. Enter now, while it is still day, for the night may be too late.”

Prayer of Salvation 🙏

Heavenly Father,
I come to You today as a sinner in need of Your mercy. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, that He died for my sins, and that You raised Him from the dead.

Lord Jesus, I confess You as my Lord and Savior. Forgive me of my sins, wash me with Your blood, and come into my heart today. From this moment, I surrender my life to You.

Thank You, Father, for saving me. I am now born again, a child of God. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
