Unity in the body of Christ

One of the devil’s most subtle and destructive tactics in these last days is division within the church. He often works through discord among preachers, pitting one against another.

For instance, Preacher A might rise and declare, “Preacher B is preaching nonsense!” Preacher B responds in kind, and soon the focus shifts entirely from God’s message to personal attacks. What should be a place of spiritual nourishment—the pulpit—becomes a platform for criticism, jealousy, and rivalry.

The result is tragic: the Word of God takes a backseat, and the congregation is distracted or disillusioned. The devil thrives in this environment because division weakens the church’s witness and effectiveness.

Church leaders and members alike must guard unity, respect the office of the pulpit, and prioritize the message of Christ over personal opinions. Remember, a divided church cannot fulfil the mission God has entrusted to it.

Mark 3:24-25 (NIV): If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

This verse is often used to illustrate the danger of internal conflict—whether in families, organizations, or communities or the church of Christ—because division weakens unity and stability.

Ministers of God, Be Wise!

The devil is launching a fierce onslaught against the unity and strength of Christianity, cleverly sowing division among preachers. This tactic has weakened the Church’s influence and robbed her of much of the power God intended her to manifest.

Where are the days when armed men dared not enter a church, and ministers of the Gospel stood unharmed because of God’s mighty power in His Church? Today armed men enters the house of God and operate freely for hours and still go out unharmed. This shouldn't be a regular occurrence like it is now.

Today, many pursue their own desires. The Bible is often side-lined, replaced with emotional appeals and compromises that justify personal actions. How can a church still manifest true power when the Word of God is no longer the foundation of its preaching?

Psalm 133:1 (NIV):“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”

1 Corinthians 1:10 (NIV):“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.”

Ephesians 4:3 (NIV): Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Matthew 18:19-20 (NIV): Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NIV): Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Because the Church is divided, she can only chase a thousand; her power to chase ten thousand is drastically diminished. This is the challenge facing the Church today.

And God is speaking to us through His Word:

Revelation 2:5 (NIV): "Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place."

Jesus was speaking to the church in Ephesus, calling them to remember their early devotion, turn from their past mistakes, and repent. This same call is directed at us today.

The unity of the Church is the key to releasing God’s great power that can be seen across nations. What challenge—be it insecurity, corruption, or bad governance—can withstand the altar of God? Are we saying that God can no longer deliver nations?

Today, many are downplaying the importance of truly knowing and walking with God—a deception the devil has cunningly planted in the hearts of mankind. The very fact that you are breathing free air is reason enough to serve God. Imagine if your next breath depended on the rich or the government—many would already have perished, just as inflation and hardship are taking lives in various parts of the world now.

No matter how clever or strategic we think our steps are toward achieving good governance, we cannot ignore the place of God. Remember, government originates from Divinity; it is a gift borrowed from Heaven. Therefore, we must follow the master plan—the blueprint of the Originator. The only way to achieve true and lasting good governance is by doing it God’s way.

At this point, some may criticize me and say, “The best governments in the world don’t know God.” True—they are not Christian nations. But here’s the shocker: many of these so-called godless nations are actually being run on Godly principles that many self-proclaimed godly nations refuse to practice.

Think about this carefully, and you will see the great deception of the devil, whispering that we don’t need God—neither as individuals nor as a nation.

Yes, these are pagan nations, yet they apply nearly 100% of God’s laws in running their affairs. That is why their nations often function better than so-called Christian nations.

Thou shall not steal, kill, bear false witness, commit adultery, and other commandments are enforced with severe or even capital punishment. Meanwhile, some Christian nations condone these very crimes. They lie, practice corruption, bear false witness, and steal, yet still compare themselves to the developed world, claiming righteousness over them. What can you say to a pagan nation publicly executing their past and present office holders for corruption while the so called Christian-nations are celebrating them.

And we sit back expecting God to perform magic and fix our governments for us. Who is deceiving whom?

I tell you, any pagan nation that runs its government according to God’s commands and principles will always fare better than a Christian nation that condones the breaking of these laws.

We are not in a competition over who is more powerful or who knows the Bible better—but sadly, that seems to be what is happening. Many preachers focus on proving a point, which has given rise to heresies and division in the Church.

Remember: our reward will be measured by the good works we do, not by how many miracles we perform or how much Scripture we know—though these have their place and blessings for every believer.

Let us return to God while it is still day, for the night may soon be too late.

Let us put our doctrinal differences aside and stand together on the truths where we all agree. By doing so, we will grow more tolerant of one another and learn to adopt what we do not yet know from others.

With this unity, the devil will have no opportunity to penetrate our midst. God bless us all. Thank You, Jesus!
